Green Tree Python Care

Enclosure

  • Neonates/Juveniles: 12–18 qt tub or small arboreal enclosure
  •  Adults: Minimum 24” x 24” x 36” arboreal enclosure

Note: Green Tree Pythons are arboreal and all  enclosures should provide multiple perches at different heights for them to hang from.

Temperature

  • Basking: 80-86°F (27-30°C)
  • Cool end: 70-80°F (21-26°C)

All heat sources should be controlled with thermostats. Radiant heat panels or ceramic heat emitters are preferred.

Humidity

Green Tree Pythons are a tropical species and can be sensitive to dehydration, but this does not mean their enclosure should be kept constantly wet. In fact, conditions that stay too damp can be just as harmful as those that are too dry. The goal is to maintain a humid environment with enough ventilation to allow the enclosure to dry out between mistings.

Most Green Tree Pythons do best with humidity levels that fluctuate between 40–70%. It is normal for humidity to rise temporarily after misting, as long as it is allowed to drop back toward 40% before the next misting.

Note: Hatchlings and juveniles are more sensitive to dehydration than adults and may require closer monitoring.

Feeding

Green Tree Pythons eat whole prey animals, which provides all the nutrients they need to stay healthy. Offering appropriately sized prey on a consistent schedule will help keep your snake in good body condition. Below is a simple feeding guide to get you started.

  • Neonates (0-6 months) — every 5-7 days
  • Juveniles (6-18 months) — every 7-10 days
  • Sub-Adults & Adults (18+ months) — every 10-14 days

Water

Your Green Tree Python should have access to clean drinking water daily.
